Join us for a series of classes on the various cultures, traditions, and dances that are showcased at the United Tribes International Pow-wow. Each class will focus on a specific style of dance/song, and will go over the protocols expected of visitors to the pow-wow. This will be especially useful for anyone non-Native who is interested in attending the pow-wow, but is unsure what to expect/how to show respect as a visitor.
It is not required to attend all classes within the series, but each class will highlight a different feature of the pow-wow, so it will be worthwhile to attend all of them!
August 17, 6-7pm: Begin your journey in learning about the culture and traditions of the dancers - Women's Jingle Dress Dance and Men's Grass Dance.
August 24, 6-7pm: The men's and women's Fancy Dancers will be featured in this session, with a showcase of the outfits, songs, dances, and protocols.
August 31, 6-7pm: In this week's session, see and learn about the men's and women's Traditional outfits, dances, songs, and special protocols.
