Doesn't winter make you want to curl up with a good book? Isn't there something kind of calming about the idea of reading by candlelight? Do you ever want to be around people...but not necessarily have to interact with them...just share a space and a moment?
MMPL is hosting a quiet, cozy, community opportunity.
Silent Night, Reading Night is a unique event for teens and adults to make space in their calendar for an hour of uninterrupted reading and space for themselves in our Community Room. We're dimming the lights, letting you borrow our (battery-operated) candles, and encouraging you to take part in some quality quiet-time.
We have some yoga mats and chairs available, but feel free to bring your own blanket, cushion, sleeping bag, or pillow to make your space cozy. You can bring your own book, or the Friends of the MMPL will have used books available to purchase for $1.
Maybe you just need an hour to finish the final draft of a school essay, or a time to get out of the house to finish addressing all of those holiday cards. Get a head start on your New Year's Resolution for writing that short story or finishing a novel before that Book Club deadline. As long as it's silent, grab a spot!
Forget the hustle and bustle--this hour is for you to be with all of us as we all do our own thing! All is calm, all it takes is a story read by candlelight.
