Take a seat, share a story.
Heather May, our local Community Integration Facilitator is leading this storytime about the similarities and differences we share with our neighbors from here and around the world.
Afterwards, all are invited to take part in activities, conversations, and some taste-testing with a variety of food, languages, and games that may be new to them.
This storytime is a celebration of "National Welcoming Week" which runs from September 12th-21st and is an opportunity for communities to work towards fostering connections and building inclusive and welcoming neighborhoods.
MMPL is also the current host of the "Welcoming Library" Travelling Collection. Visit our display in the Children's Section of the library, which features 30 Acclaimed Picture Books containing stories about the experiences of modern-day families.
Each story includes Discussion Questions to encourage readers to have conversations about welcoming, belonging, and the cultural and historical details that inform the story. These books must remain in the library, but will be available throughout the month.
