Event Details

If you're drawn to audio like a MOTH to a flame...

If you believe that the ability to broadcast is among the STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW...

If you have a story you'd like to tell, but want to remain 99% INVISIBLE to your audience...

If you have the intrigue, but need some practice in a RADIO LAB...

If you've received a warm WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE, enjoyed a slice of THIS AMERICAN LIFE, or dabbled in something CRIMINAL...then you have a story ready to be shared on air!

With the help of a Dakota Media Access instructor and the use of MMPL's podcasting equipment, this class for teens/adults will help you learn the basics of podcasting.

MMPL was able to furnish our podcasting room through a grant from the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction. We have the tech, now we need YOUR voice.

Instructor Justin Cancilliere will take students through the process of writing, researching, recording, editing, and publishing a podcast.

Whether you're hoping to host a show about true crime, record episodes for your book club, produce a fictional on-air thriller, broadcast your take on current events, or simply see what it takes to take the chair behind a microphone, this introductory class is the perfect first step for anyone with an interest in pressing the "Record" button.

Due to the size of the MMPL recording room, these classes have limited seats. Registration is required.

There are TWO sessions available: 1-2 PM OR 5:30-6:30 PM. Please only register for one—both classes will offer the same content.

Why learn this skill? Here are some examples of how podcasting can be useful to YOU:
-record oral histories to preserve family stories/memories
-communicate informational research and persuasive arguments
-present personal insights and thoughts regarding various topics
-discuss a favorite book, movie, or event
-prepare audio versions of original writing (April is national poetry month—share your verse and your voice!)
