Not Your Grandma’s Ukraine: Shared Heritage & New Experiences
Many North Dakotans are of Ukrainian heritage, their ancestors having arrived here during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
They brought with them their food, language, religion and traditions, preserving them as best they could while becoming Americans on the prairie. Yet, after they left Ukraine, their home country continued growing and changing-- evolving into a modern, European country which they might not even recognize today.
Spend an evening with some of the newest wave of Ukrainians who now call North Dakota "home" as they share their take on current Ukrainian culture and adapting to life in the United States.
This program is in partnership with the City of Bismarck's Community Integration team and a Vinterfest event!
