Not Your Grandma’s Ukraine: Shared Heritage & New Experiences
Many North Dakotans are of Ukrainian heritage, their ancestors having arrived here during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They brought with them their food, language, religion and traditions, preserving them as best they could while becoming Americans on the prairie. Yet after they left Ukraine, it continued growing and changing into a modern, European country which they might not even recognize today. Spend an evening with some of the newest wave of Ukrainians who now call North Dakota home as they share their take on current Ukrainian culture and adapting to life in the U.S.”
