January is National Soup Month and we can't wait to dish it out with a Ground Beef Soup Cook Off!

District 5 CattleWomen are sponsoring this beef and broth cook off that invites 8 teams to compete and the general public to eat! The cooking teams will compete for prizes and a People's Choice Award. 

Teams are asked to bring their best ground beef soup recipe. Each team is limited to 3 members. The District 5 Cattlewomen will provide each team with two pounds of ground beef AND a 7.5 Qt Slow Cooker.


GROUND BEEF SOUP SCHEDULE 

9:30 AM: Contestant Arrival (COMPETING TEAM MEMBERS ONLY) Use the Community Room entrance on the East side of the Library (up the ramp next to the Dykshoorn Park Bandshell).

10 AM: District 5 CattleWomen present official contest instructions to the teams and distribute the ground beef. Morton Mandan Public Library opens to the public.

10:15 AM: Teams may begin preparing and cooking their ground beef soup

11:45 AM: Judges will be served samples of each teams' soup

12:15 PM: Public invited to sample the soups! VOTE for the Winner of the People's Choice Award!

1:15 PM: Awards will be announced


TEAM REGISTRATION

  • ONLY 1 INDIVIDUAL PER TEAM (TEAM LEADER)  WILL REGISTER FOR THE COMPETITION
  • Team Leader will include their name, email address, and phone number to register
  • Accompanying chefs (2 maximum) will check in at 9:30 AM on the day of the Cook Off, but do NOT need to register online
  • Cooking teams are limited to 3 members
  • The Team Leader must be at least 19 years old or older
  • 1 of the members may be 15- 18 years of age
  • There is a limit of 8 teams for the contest, register early to secure your spot!
