Program Description

Event Details

Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, marks the start of a new zodiac cycle based on the Chinese lunar calendar.

In 2026, Lunar New Year falls on February 17th, kicking off the 16-day Spring Festival. These celebrations culminate with the Lantern Festival (and the Spring Festival's official end date of March 3rd).

Join MMPL and the North Dakota Asian-American Arts and Cultural Institute (NDAAACI) as we leave behind the introspective and intuitive Year of the Snake and close out VINTERFEST.

Welcome to the Year of the Horse! Galloping in with vibrant and fiery energy, symbolizing adventure, vitality, and momentum. The Horse also embodies enthusiasm, speed and fieriness, bringing a year focused on bold moves and exploration.

This cultural event will explore the history, customs, symbolism, food, and festivities of the Lunar New Year. All ages are welcome to this celebration of going forth into 2026 with well-wishes for health, happiness, and all that the Year of the Horse has in store!
