Is graffiti vandalism? Is street art...art?
From prehistoric cave drawings to the "Kilroy Was Here" doodles left by soldiers in WWII, writing on the wall has been an underground art movement that humans have used to express themselves for centuries. Archeologists use the term "graffito" to describe deliberate marks, writing, or images, left behind by the people before us.
Can we view modern graffiti in a similar way?
This class will invite participants to appreciate the creative and aesthetic beauty of graffiti, explore and experiment with graffiti styles, and create their own personalized artwork. Snacks will be provided.
