Celebrate Black History Month by adding your mark to a community-made mural!
Using the polytab process, this large-scale artwork (to be revealed Juneteenth 2026) requires no prior painting experience! It's a paint-by-number style artwork, and YOU are the artist.
All ages are welcome to attend this celebration. Expect vibrancy, history, music, and more during this collaborative open-house style gathering hosted by the Bismarck Mandan Juneteenth Committee.
From music and local DJs, to storytime and dancing, this VINTERFEST celebration marks a special anniversary.
The theme of 2026's Black History Month is "A Century of Black History Commemorations" and marks 100 years of work towards recognition and sustained efforts to celebrate the history, traditions, struggles, and contributions of Black people in the creation and current landscape of America.
From 1915's establishment of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, to 1976's first presidential recognition of Black History Month by Gerald Ford, and 1986's designation from Congress that marked February as Black History Month, decades of dedication has created and curated the opportunity for a month when..."Black history finds its way not simply into the schools of the American nation, but also into cultural heritage sites (museums, archives, libraries, parks, etc.), public squares, workplaces, houses of worship, and homes across the land and across the oceans."
